This Brilliant Hack Makes Inexpensive Falsies Look Like Pricey Lash Extensions

False eyelashes are getting really good now — when applied correctly, you can hardly tell that they're not real. On the downside, if you want to wear them any more frequently than special occasions, the realistic fanned-out doe-eyed ones can cost quite a bit of cash. However, Hello Giggles tipped us off to this genius lash hack that makes $1 drugstore lashes look just like the super natural-looking pricier versions.
Fake lashes often look cheap because they're too perfectly glossy, lengthened and spaced-out. You know those drugstore lashes that are groomed into alien-esque pointy triangles? Yeah, not exactly what you need if you're going for a natural look. Makeup artist Paloma Garcia just shared an eyelash hack that not only makes cheap lashes look more expensive but also more natural. All you need is a pair of false lashes and a clean mascara spoolie.
In a Facebook video, Garcia demonstrates her technique. Using the spoolie, she essentially brushes out the stiff falsies. The process isn't delicate — she almost scrubs the lashes to create separation and a rougher, more natural look that actually makes the lashes appear thicker. To finish, she uses the spoolie to make sure the ends have a nice curl. So simple, so genius.
Makeup artist Promise Tamang also tried the "wispy lash hack" and got similar results. As her video shows, some lashes might require getting really rough to transform the cheap lashes into expensive- and natural-looking falsies. In other words, don't be afraid to really go to town on them.

The hack isn't just a cool trick — it has the potential to be a game changer for false lashes lovers. Just think of all the cash you could save if every pair of falsies cost less than a latte. That's cash you could lavish on your lashes in other ways, like with lash-boosting mascara or mermaid lash extensions.
